Unit description:

We welcome you to be part of the new, unique university community. Tampere University of Technology and University of Tampere will merge on 1.1.2019 into a multidisciplinary university called Tampere University, which is the second largest in Finland.

To ensure the continuity of successful development, Research Funding Services is looking for a new person to the Pre-Award team. The task of the unit is to promote and support externally funded research. The unit provides expert services for the various actors of the university for research funding, contractual matters and intellectual property rights.


Job description:

The task is to lead and support the preparation process of demanding EU and other international research funding applications. The aim is to improve the quality of project applications by contributing to the writing of all sections of the applications and carrying out quality assessments. The assignments include the development of the Grant Writer service, participation in the preparation of university level project applications and the representation of the university in various international networks.


Qualifications:

We require a higher university degree from the applicants, preferably from the technical or natural sciences. As the working environment is international, we require excellent written and oral English skills. For the successful management of tasks, previous experience of international and / or domestic funding applications is essential.

An advantage is if you have a scientific postgraduate degree, experience in successfully applying for EU framework or other international research funding, excellent writing skills, and advanced process management skills.

We are looking for a flexible and dynamic teammate with good interaction, negotiation and presentation skills. The deadlines for applying for research funding require good time management skills and the ability to work under timetable pressures. The task also involves some travel, including preparatory meetings for consortium projects and travel related to own professional development.

Salary:

The salary is based on the University Salary System (YPJ) that is a nationwide salary system in Finnish universities. It is made up of two basic components i) the job-specific salary component depends on the requirements of your position (job requirements level = VAATI), and ii) the performance-based salary component depends on your professional performance (performance level = HENKI). In practice the salary will be between 3800€ - 4400€.


Trial period:

This assignment has a probationary period in accordance with the Employment Contracts Act.


Other considerations:

The position is filled in for a period of two years, starting from 1 December 2018 or by agreement.

We will use video interviews in the recruitment process, interviews in Tampere and personnel assessment carried out by an external service provider as part of the evaluation of the applicants.
